Azerbaycan™ en eski medeniyet merkezlerinden biri olan Gence sheh- rinde sanatkarligin demek olar ki, tum sahalar i ile birge ahilik de in- kishaf etmishtir. Tokuculuk, halicilik zergerlik, misgerlik, boyakcilik, dulusculuk ve diğer sahalarda faliyet gösteren sanatkarlar sosyal ta- baqa gibi formalashmishtir. Eski Gence arazisindeki Cömert Kasap türbesinin ahi teshkilatlarindan birine ait olduğu, Nizami Gencevi- nin de ahi teshkilatinin üyesi olduğu bazi kaynaklarda gösterilir. Haci Zeynalabdin Shirvaniye gore, “Genceden bir cok marifet sahibi cikmishtir. Onlardan biri de Sheyh Ahi Farruh Zencaninin müridi, “Hemse” sahibi olan Sheyh Nizamidir”. Doğrudan da ahilikle bagli makamlara Nizami Gencevinin kendi eserlerinde de rast gelinir.
Tarihe “Gence isyani”gibi dahil olan isyan 1231 yilinda Bender adli ahi duluscunun bashciligi ile bashladi, daha sonra adi insanlar da onlara katildilar. Isyancilar Harezmshah Celal ad-dine karshi savas- hirdilar. Onlar Harezmshahin karargahini yiktilar, shehri ele geçirdiler ve zenginlerin emlakini yoksullar arasinda payladılar.
Akhism was highly developed as result of improvement of almost all kinds of art in Ganja that was one of the oldest cultural centers of Azerbaijan. The skilled workmen who worked in weaving, manufacture of carpets, painting and other fields were formed as a social stratum. According to some sources Nizami was a member of an akhism organization and Jomard Gassab tomb also belonged to one of the akhism organizations. Hafi Zeynalabdin Shirvani wrote: “There are a lot of outstanding people from Ganja. One of them is Sheykh Nizami who was Sheykh Akhi Farrukh Zenjani’s murid and owner of the “Khamsah We can see some issues connected with akhism in Nizami’s works. In 1231 common people rose in revolt under Bandar’s leadership in Ganja. Bandar was akhi and the rebels fought against Kharazmshah Jalal ad-din. They destroyed Kharazmshah’s headquarter, controlled the city and assigned a share the property of the rich among the poor.
