REFLECTIONS OF BYZANTINE GUILD ORGANIZATION ON AHI COMMUNITIES

Özet

Ortaçağ’a özgü bir kurum olan Loncalar, daha çok aynı meslekte çalışan tüccar, esnaf ve zanaatkârların kendi çıkarlarını korumaya yönelik olarak kurdukları birliklerdir. Savaşlar bitince doğu ile batı arasında ticaret başlamış ve gelişmiştir. Sanayi hemen hemen bütün Ortaçağ’da zanaata dayanmıştır. Zanaat ise lonca denilen örgütler tarafından düzenlenmiştir (Heaton, 1985:51-79).
Ahi teşkilatı ise konar-göçer Türkmenleri iş ve meslek sahibi yaparak, onların şehir hayatına geçmelerini ve çevreye uyumlarını kolaylaştırmıştır. Anadolu’daki yerli Bizans esnafına karşı rekabet edebilmesini sağlamıştır (Çağatay, 1989:85.
Bu bildiri kapsamında Bizans Lonca teşkilatının Anadolu da kurulan Ahi Birlikleri üzerindeki tesirleri anlatılarak; göçebe ve yerli kültürdeki ticaret anlayışı, ahlaki ve dini öğretilerin kurumlara yansıması, mesleki birliklerdeki benzerlikler ve kurumların bölgelerdeki siyasi ve sosyal yaşam üzerindeki tesirleri ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır.

Abstract

Guilds, which were organizations that were specific to medieval ages, were unions that were established mostly by tradesmen, artisans and craftsmen who worked in the same business to protect their interests. When the wars ended, trade started and developed between the East and the West. Industry was based on craftsmanship in nearly all of the Medieval Age. Craft, on the other hand, was organized by organizations that were called as Guild (Heaton, 1985: p. 51-79). The Ahi Organization ensured that the nomadic Turkic people became job and profession holders and enabled them to start urban life and adopt to the environment. They also enabled the Turkish tradesmen compete with their Byzantine counterparts who were the locals in Anatolia (Çağatay, 1989: p.85). In the context of this manuscript, the effects of the Byzantine Guild Organization on the Ahi Organizations that were established in Anatolia will be dealt with; and the reflections of these effects on the trade in nomadic and settled culture, the reflections of the moral and religious pillars in institutions, the similarities and differences in professional organizations, the variety in the products, the effects of the institutions on the political and social life in the area will be revealed.
